Our patients benefit greatly from being a part of River Bend, because they gain access to our team of experienced physicians, physician’s assistants, and nurse practitioners. When patients join our practice, they can request a specific doctor to handle their care. We strongly encourage our patients to ‘shop around’ and choose the doctor at our office that can best meet their needs.
But how do you compare doctors and find one that’s right for you?
A good way to start is by visiting the staff page of our website. There you can find information on our physicians and other care providers, including summaries of their specialties and experience.
Look up your doctor’s medical license on the Medical Board of California’s BreEZe Online License Search. You can do the same for nurses as well. If you like, our staff will be happy to assist you.
The best way to find the doctor right for you is to simply ask for a recommendation. This recommendation can come from anyone you trust. Explain what your priorities and need are. What are your existing medical conditions? Are you planning on having children? Would you prefer to work with a doctor who has children? Do you need the assistance of someone who is particularly experienced in working with members of the LGBTQ community? Do you need someone who is bilingual? Do you feel more comfortable with a male or female doctor?
Our goal is to provide you with the best medical care possible, which is why we are more than happy to work with you to identify someone who will suit your needs. While all of our doctors and other medical staff are excellent at what they do, we understand that each patient has unique needs that make some doctors better suited than others.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
Do I need a referral?
Sometimes, a person has an illness or condition that requires the attention of a focused specialist. Our training helps us recognize these situations. Please keep in mind, our fellow specialists have many patients, and obtaining an appointment may require some time. Your patient and cooperation are greatly appreciated.
Why can’t I just get a referral immediately, rather than having to go through my primary doctor?
Medical insurers often require patients to see their primary care doctor before seeing a specialist. This is not to ‘hassle’ patients or deny care. ‘Generalist’ physicians are trained to recognize and treat many conditions that may not need the extra time and expense of specialty care.
However, if we confirm that you do need a specialist, we have to make sure to send you to the specialist best suited to assist you. Our training can make sure you connect with the specialist right for you, saving you time and money.
